Ninth Island NV Sparkling Rose applauded in Australian Sparkling Report 2018
On March 28th this year, Ninth Island Non Vintage Sparkling Rose was acclaimed by internationally recognized author, publisher and authority on sparkling wine Tyson Stelzer as the Sparkling Wine Of The Year Under $25, with Ninth Island Non Vintage Cuvee listed as a runner up for the title also.
The prestigious announcement was made via the launch of Tysons Australian Sparkling Report 2018, a comprehensive 77-page report detailing reviews, regions and producers of Australia’s best sparkling wines. Tyson is an award-winning wine writer and has contributed to over 15 publications including Wine Spectator, Decanter, Qantas The Australian Way and Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine.
Within the report Tyson says:
“Ninth Island has landed in pink guise, and no surprise, with rosé queen Nat Fryar entering the building to join the team of wizards at Piper’s Brook. The result resoundingly meets every lofty expectation, from its gracefully pale salmon hue through its elegant restraint and delightful expression of pinot noir’s red cherries and strawberries”
The acclaim follows the Gold Medal win for the wine at the 2018 Tasmanian Wine Show and has been named by Huon Hooke in his list of Top Non Vintage Pinot Noir blends with a score of 95 points. These awards join a growing list gained by a resurgent Pipers Brook portfolio.
Ninth Island is named after a tiny island that sits alone in the Bass Strait, just offshore from the Pipers Brook Estate where these wines are made. The island's windswept, pristine environment is the inspiration behind this modern range of wines that capture the wild flavours of Tasmania. Ninth Island wines are part of the Kreglinger Wine Estates portfolio, produced by Pipers Brook Vineyard.
